WEST ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL

Total Square Footage: 57,000 square feet
Cost: $7,600,000

The new middle school for the West St. Francois County R-IV School District houses grades 6 to 8 in a 57,000 square foot school. The new facility is being built next to the high school facility so that the students in both schools can share the existing athletic field. The new middle school is being constructed with concrete block and brick, along with accents of metal wall panels. The facility will offer the students larger classrooms and media center, a state-of-the-art science and computer lab, a fully functioning FACS room, and a gym with capable seating of 480 students. Leadwood Middle School is being built as a totally secure facility from any outside threat. Visitors will be invited into the main entrance vestibule where they will not have access to the remaining school without authorization from the administration. In case there is the threat, this new middle school and adjacent high school will have the benefit of a safe shelter for all of the students and staff, located in this new facility. West St. Francois County Middle School plans to be completed in January 2016.
